Keep it simple, stupid.
Welcome to my 2022 motto! (And its sibling, “Good Enough.”)
I excel in overthinking (that could be the understatement of the year – LOL).
Whether I’m overthinking something I said, a social media post, or even what to serve for dinner, being an overthinker can be painful. Not just for me, but for others, too. If you’re one of the lucky ones who’s witnessed me trying to pick a paint color – you know how torturous it can be.
Working these last few months on building my online parenting community, I realized overthinking doesn’t just cause me stress – but I literally don’t have time to overthink. There just aren’t enough hours in a day to overthink EVERY stinkin’ detail. As much as I would like to, I can’t. At least not if I want to finish the project … and eat.
So, this year I’m trying to “keep it simple.” Every time I’m tempted to overthink, I will first ask myself if there is a way to “keep it simple,” maybe tweak the plan a little so that I don’t have to go down the rabbit hole and so I can avoid analysis paralysis.
Here’s a few things I’ve already done:
- I spent an extra buck or two on masks – and the world didn't stop! Simple purchases usually send me into research overload. But this time, as soon as I saw a decent option for a decent price, I hit “buy now” and it was all done. Can buying things online really be that simple?
- I posted a reel on social media! I was proud of myself when I threw this reel together in less than 30 minutes. I wanted to choreograph my actual dancing … and do my hair – but with my new KISS motto I decided all that work wasn’t necessary and I would get nothing done if I made too big a deal of it. So I just went for it. I look like a fool – but it’s done! Need a laugh? You can check out my embarrassing reel here
- Decided to beta launch my membership! I CAN launch before it’s all neat and tidy. In fact, with input from my Founding Members, I’ll be able to offer value right away while also customizing the community for my members
How about you? What is your 2022 motto?
